Osvanna’s Atonement

I knew I had to share this part of the story, but it didn’t really fit at the end of 6.7 (well, it did – but I didn’t like it there), nor did it fit at the beginning of 6.8 (like, seriously). So… we have another side story! This one is MUCH shorter than The Life and Death of Roger Carmichael, so don’t get too excited. I guess, technically, 6.7 and 6.8 could both be classified as side stories, as they don’t really do much to advance the plot of the main storyline. But, I felt like 6.7 and 6.8 were needed to fill in some information that just about everyone who has ever read this legacy has asked about – which will make sense when it comes time to release 6.9!

But that won’t be for a while yet… I mean, damn – I haven’t even finished Chapter 6.8 yet! :O

Also, I finally get to use another song as an intro! For some reason I decided that the bite-sized chapters wouldn’t have songs, but I may break my own rule and put one at the beginning of 6.8. I’ve missed doing the song intro thing.

So, while you wait for me to finish 6.8 (my goal date is May 11th – the day the new Dark Shadows movie comes out!), here’s a tiny tid-bit to fill in one (not-so-crucial) blank. Think of this as a birthday present from me to you – even though it’s me that is turning 30 today (ugh).

Shadows and Blood: Chapter 6.7 Bite Sized

I told you I was working on it! Actually, most of the pictures for this chapter were taken last year, as well as most of the writing. I only had one little place I was stuck on, which was part of the delay for the chapter’s release. The other delay was… well, I had planned on releasing this chapter AND 6.8 at the same time. But 6.8 is nowhere close to being finished (I’m getting a little overwhelmed – time to step away from it for a couple of days to get my head straight) and I’m tired of sitting on 6.7! A couple of days ago, I got the brilliant idea that I should merge this chapter and 6.8 into one big chapter, because the way it is now will throw off where I want Chapter 7 to begin. But, after thinking it over a little more, I broke the chapters up again into two parts. There is a fairly large time-gap between the end of this chapter and the beginning of the next, and it just didn’t fit well when it was thrown all together. I don’t know when I will finish 6.8, but suffice it to say that it WILL be finished. I made up my mind a long time ago, if I never finish this legacy, THIS part of the story (meaning 6.7 & 6.8) will be told!

EDITED TO ADD: I highly recommend re-reading the entire story before reading this chapter. But, if that’s not possible, the following chapters should definitely be reviewed before continuing: Prologue, Bite-Sized Chapters 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, 6.4, 6.5, and 6.6.

Shadows And Blood: Chapter 6.6 Bite Sized

I had wanted to have this out for Easter (as some sort of morbid treat for you all), but it just wasn’t ready yet. Sorry! You all have been so patient when waiting for me to get these mini-chapters done. I know I’ve probably lost a few of you (no one likes to be kept waiting), and I regret that. I hope that this chapter (big reveal at the end of this one) and the next one will make it worth the wait (I keep saying that, don’t I?). I’m not sure how soon I can get to work on the next installment, as it involves plugging in a neighborhood and some CC that hasn’t been touched in years. I want to say that that particular neighborhood is still safe to play (unlike the one I used to do Roger’s side-story – total corruption was imminent and it was about to become a BBFVFS) but I really can’t remember. I hope that if it is damaged, that it will last long enough to get out the next mini-chapter! So far my Desiderata Valley ‘hood is okay, but my plan is to get the mini-chapters out and then switch everything over into a mega-hood (after the last mini-chapter and before Chapter 7 is a great place to do that). I’m also in the process of slowly culling some majorly outdated CC, because I would really love to have a nice, tidy Downloads folder when I start up the mega-hood.

I hope there aren’t too many typos/comma splices/run-on sentences/general grammar fails… I usually have Sean preview my installments before I release them (he’s really good for catching the things I miss and his – as I think of it – “technical” grammar is better than mine), but he’s at school all day today and I just don’t want to wait anymore to release this one! LOL

Hey-oh!  Sorry to keep everyone waiting.  Here’s another tiny installment!  And oh boy, what’s this?  Yes, there’s another mini-chapter after this one!  Hopefully I can get some more pictures taken soon… the rest of the bite-sized updates are going to be pretty fast paced, and a lot of things are about to happen.   I don’t want to keep you guys waiting any longer, and these are things I’ve had planned for a long time so I’m really anxious to get them out there.  I really hope you guys think (when it’s all done) that it has been worth the wait!

Just another tiny installment!  I’ll probably keep up with the mini chapters until I’m ready to go into Chapter 7 (so nine of these most likely).  I think this will work out better for all of the cliff-hangers, reveals, and plot bombs I have planned – if they were all in one big chapter, the impact of each one would be lost the further you go into the chapter.

I apologize again for this legacy to be taking so long – blame real life!

Shadows and Blood: Chapter 6.1 Bite Sized

What’s all this then?

Well, I wanted put something out, but I don’t really have time to do a whole chapter right now.  I had a couple of these pictures taken already (they were supposed to be part of Chapter 6, but if I had tacked them onto the end I would have spoiled all those lovely reveals/cliffhangers) and have finally had a few minutes here and there to actually do something with them!

This is by no means meant to be a whole chapter – just a bite sized morsel, if you will.    There’s a couple of other places in the story where I can just throw scenes out by themselves and it won’t hurt any upcoming chapters or story flow.  If Andy continues to let me, maybe I can do a few more of these!  I hope no one minds if I do this – I sometimes feel that if I don’t get to work on my story just a little that I may very well go insane!

This scene takes place just a few minutes after the last “page” of Chapter 6… which is about a week or two after the “page” before it.

Shadows and Blood: Chapter 6

So… this chapter ended up being a lot shorter than I had originally planned and I’m not sure if I’m happy about that…

I want to thank everyone who has been waiting for being so patient.  Hopefully, it will prove to be worth the wait.  I don’t know when the next chapter will be out (considering Andy seems to hate it when I sit down at the computer – I hope he gets over that soon!!) but I already have a scene ready for it which was supposed to be part of this chapter but I just couldn’t make it work, so into Chapter 7 it goes (and it will work there).  I don’t know when I’ll officially get started on the next chapter, but I hope it won’t be too long (but I can’t make any promises, you know?).

As for this chapter… well, it is short, but what it lacks in length I think it makes up for in substance.  At least at the end, anyway.    And FYI, the sub-pages separate points-of-view.  (Edited to add:  I don’t know when I’ll get around to posting any outtakes.  I have a few that I want to share, it’s just a matter of finding time to edit them/upload them/write what I can remember about them.  Sorry!)

Shadows and Blood: Chapter 5

Chapter 5 is ready and is Twilight-bashing free (about freaking time, right?)!  In all honesty though, I didn’t really bash it in Chapter 4 (in case any one was offended – if you were, I’m sorry). I read those books and they certainly weren’t the worst thing I’ve ever read (I only truly hated, loathed, and detested the last one).  But come on, you know if an honest-to-God fry-in-the-sun vampire were to read those books they would probably have the same reaction Roger did.

Also, there are a lot of Point-Of-View changes in this chapter.  I couldn’t give each POV a new subpage because I would have ended up with something like 13 sub-pages (I’m just guessing here – I never did count the number of POV changes but trust me, there are a lot), and some of them would have only had two or three pictures (which is something I’m trying to avoid).  The sub-pages do separate points of view, as do the “***“.  I hope all the switching back and forth doesn’t confuse anyone too much!  If anyone does get too confused, please let me know if you have any ideas on how I can avoid it next chapter (assuming Chapter 6 has as many POV changes as Chapter 5 – I don’t know if it will yet because… I’ve not started on it yet).

And while I’m at it, how is the site loading for everyone?  Has anyone noticed if the layout looks any different?  Are any of you getting the dreaded horizontal scroll bar of doom?  Sean and I recently worked on the code for this blog, changing a few subtle things here and there.  We hope the new coding we implemented makes the blog shrink or grow depending on your screen resolution… we’re wondering if it worked.  So, if anybody has encountered any problems let me know and we’ll see what we can do. 

The outtakes for this chapter will be up sometime in the next few days – I really wanted to go ahead and get the chapter published considering I’ve been working on it since March.  Yikes.  I will also put up an heir poll when I publish the outtakes.  I haven’t decided yet whether I’m going to put up an heir poll at boolprop.com.  I don’t really want people voting for who they think should be heir if they don’t read the story, and I think that happens a lot over there (people just want to vote for a pretty Sim, they aren’t voting for the character).  Plus… I’m drifting away from that site more and more.  Maybe I’ve outgrown it.  I don’t know.  But now is not the time or place to discuss it. 

Finally (and back on subject – the chapter itself), please take note that the language warning for this chapter has been bumped up to “coarse”… a certain Sim likes to curse… a lot.  It’s not just the amount of curses, but the severity of the words used.  For the record, I would never write anything I wouldn’t feel comfortable with my mother reading, because she does in fact read this!  LOL
