I’ll lay down my glasses
I’ll lay down in houses
If things come alive

I’ll subtract pain by ounces
Yeah, I will start painting houses
If things come alive

I promise to commit no acts of violence
Neither physical or otherwise
If things come alive

I’ll say it now
I’ll say it now
Oh, I’ll say it now

Cause I want it now

When personality is scar tissue
We travel South with this use

I’m subtle like a lion’s cage
Such a cautious display
Remember take hold of your time here
Give some meanings to the means
To your end
Not even jail

Not Even Jail – Interpol

My own sister – arrested!

I could hardly believe it.

I didn’t bother letting Mom and Dad know that I was leaving, as they were expecting me to go out with Lorie.  I already had the keys to the car in my pocket so there was no reason for me to go into the house, which was a really good thing… I know that if I had stepped one foot inside that Mom and Dad would immediately know that something was wrong and then I’d be forced to spill the beans on Mi.  I walked briskly to the car, wrenched the door open, and climbed inside.  I was in a hurry, but I was careful not the spin the tires on the gravel driveway.  I waited until I was out of my parents’ vampire earshot before I gunned the engine.

Twenty minutes later I was pulling up to the curb outside of  the downtown division of the Desiderata Valley Police Department.  I parked quickly and then walked inside.

“Can I help you?” asked the cop behind the counter.

“Yes, I’m looking for – ” I started, but I was cut off when someone grabbed me and squeezed all the air from my lungs.

“Chance!  Thank God!” cried my sister, Mireille.

“I… can’t… breathe…” I sputtered.

“Shit, I’m sorry,” she said, finally letting me go.  The air rushed back into my chest and I sighed.

“What happened?” I asked.

Mi’s bottom lip began to tremble and her eyes filled with tears.

“Your sister was caught hanging out in the cemetery after hours,” replied a young cop who had walked up while Mi was trying to suffocate me.

“Is she in a lot of trouble?”

I looked to Mi, whose tear-filled eyes were glued to the floor.

“No,” the cop answered, reaching out to pat Mi’s shoulder, “we just wanted to make sure she had a way home.  It’s not safe to be out by yourself so late.  From now on, please try to remember that the cemetery closes at seven.”

“Yes ma’am,” I replied for my sister, who seemed unable to respond with anything other than a sniffle.

The cop gave us a smile and turned to walk away.

“Let’s go home,” I said to Mi, putting my hand on her back and leading her out of the station.

Now, I realize that what I did next was a total dick thing to do, but I couldn’t help myself.  If the shoe was on the other foot, Mireille would have been teasing the crap out of me before we’d even gone outside.

I had to let her hold it.

“So… out playing with graves huh?  I thought you had enough living friends Mi, I didn’t know you had to go digging for dead ones.  And to top it off you got caught!  Just wait until I tell Mom and Dad!” I laughed maniacally.

Mi’s mood went from sad to mad as quick as a flash.

“Don’t you fucking dare!  And I was not ‘digging up friends’!  There were a group of us hanging out in the graveyard tonight, I was just the only one stupid enough not to run when the cops showed up.”

She reached over and punched me in the arm.

“Yikes, calm down,” I said, wincing.  “I was just teasing.  But I have to know, what were you guys up to?”

“None of your damn business.”

“I had to come pick you up from the police station – I think that makes it my business.”

Mi huffed and turned to look out of the window.

“Well?” I pressed.

She replied by flipping me the bird.

I pulled into our driveway and Mi threw her door open.

“I won’t tell Mom and Dad,” I said, grabbing her arm.

She jerked away and slammed the door.

“Hi kids!” Mom said cheerfully as we walked through the door.

“We’re watching a movie, want to join us?” asked Dad.

“Nah, I’m pretty tired,” said Mi, not looking in their direction.

“Same here,” I said, following my sister down the hall.

“Okay, but it’s a good one,” called Dad as we left the room.

“Yeah!” yelled Mom.  “There’s a chicken that plays checkers!”

Instead of turning the corner that led to my room, I followed Mireille to hers.  I got there just as she tried to close the door.

“What do you want now?” she whispered.

“I want to know what happened tonight.  At first I thought you were crying at the police station because you were in trouble, but now I think it’s something else.”

“I told you,” she said, glancing up the hallway toward the direction of Mom and Dad, “it’s none of your business.”

“I’m making it my business,” I told her sternly.

“Fine,” she sighed, “come in.  I don’t want them to hear.”

I closed the door behind me and turned to see my sister in the throes of a hissy fit.

“Okay, so?”

“It was horrible!  He just left me there!”

“Who?  Mi,” I told her as I reached out to stroke her arm, “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

She looked at me and smiled a tired smile and told me all about her evening in the graveyard – her friends, Toby, and the cops.

“So… you’re upset because you didn’t get a kiss goodnight?”

“Well… yeah.  And… the grave.”

“What grave?” I asked.

“We found Mom’s dead lover!  The one who turned her into a vampire!”

“No shit!” I exclaimed.  I don’t like to curse a lot, so you know I was surprised if I said this.  Mi must have had the same thought because her eyebrows tried to disappear into her hairline.

“Language,” she teased.

“Forget that!  Just tell me what you found!”

She told me about Toby’s trick on Oliver, and then how Toby said that his grandparents had told him that a murderer was buried in that grave.

“The grave said ‘Here lie the remains of Pasha Dadian, died 1872.’  That was Mom’s lover – the man in the picture downstairs.  He wasn’t just a murderer, he was our mother’s murderer!” whispered Mi.  I could barely hear her over the sound of my heart pounding.

“If someone else knows about him… wow.  Do you think Toby’s grandparents knew what he was?”

“I don’t know,” she answered, shrugging.  “If they did, they didn’t tell him.  Or at least, he didn’t tell me.”

“Yeah, creepy.”

Mi and I just stared at each other for a few minutes, not really knowing what else to say.

“Do you think he came back for me?” she finally asked, and I almost jumped at the sound of her voice.

“After the cops came.  Do you think Toby came back for me?”

I couldn’t help but roll my eyes.

“I don’t know Mi.  But really, that’s like, the least of my concerns right now.”

It was then her turn to roll her eyes.

“Sorry to be such a selfish bitch Chance, but you know – this is my life we’re talking about.”

“Mi,” I began with a sigh, “this affects all of our lives.  If someone out there has even an inkling as to what Mom and Dad are…”

After another few minutes of silence Mi stood up and pulled some pajamas out of her dresser.

“Do you mind?” she asked.  “I wasn’t lying when I told Mom and Dad I was tired.”

Realizing how tired I was myself, I didn’t mind at all and I told her so.  I pulled her into a hug and told her goodnight.

“Thanks for coming to my rescue… again,” she whispered.

I left her to get ready for bed and went to my own room and slipped into my pj’s.  As tired as I was, I couldn’t fall asleep.  I sat on the bed thinking for nearly two hours.  Finally, Mom knocked on my door and asked if was I okay.  I lied and told her that I had fallen asleep with the light on and she believed me.  When I did finally fall asleep it was fitful and filled with disturbing dreams.

I have to say that this was without a doubt your best update yet. 🙂

Lorie’s starting to become my favorite character. She’s such a sweet girl, and she’s got nice style too (and I’m not just talking about her fantastic hair… daaaaamn that hairdo is vibrant! LOL). But what struck me most about her was [SPOILER REMOVED, CLICK TO VIEW] and I think that you did an excellent job with that scene. The picture of her [SPOILER REMOVED, CLICK TO VIEW] was priceless.

What I’m more curious about than Lorie’s secret affecting Chance is how it’s going to affect Adelaide and Roger once they find out. It’s probably going to drive Chance crazy when he does find out, knowing that [SPOILER REMOVED, CLICK TO VIEW] and hopefully he won’t totally reject Lorie if he finds out.

And man [SPOILER REMOVED, CLICK TO VIEW] makes my blood boil. Poor Mi! I knew that [SPOILER REMOVED, CLICK TO VIEW] I just knew it. And now it’s too late for Mireille to [SPOILER REMOVED, CLICK TO VIEW]. Oooh man… this can’t be good. :O

As for the actual pictures and scenery, it’s always amazing how you can make your houses and sims look so great and colorful. And I just have to ask, where did you get the lightswitches on the wall, the [SLIGHT SPOILER REMOVED – JUST IN CASE – CLICK TO VIEW] and Mireille’s outfit at dinner?

Anyway, fantastic chapter as always. You know that you always leave me bloodthirsty for more and more every time. 😀

Sim Goddess

Welcome to my blog! My name is Robin and I have been playing The Sims 2 since it was first released (September 13 2004 - technically it came out on the 14, but I had preordered it from EB Games so I got it a day early). Before that, I had been playing original Sims game since... 2000? 2001? I'm not quite sure, but I do remember having to wait for Hot Date to be released. So yeah, I've been playing Sims for years.

This blog, Shadows and Blood, is the home of my legacy (and sometimes some real life stuff too). What is a legacy? Oh, just look at my "Site-ations" list and you'll find a link. I don't have a link to the official site because it fails and I am against it (hence putting my story here, rather than on my Simpage).

So yeah, sit back and read my story. Tell me what you think (unless you think it blows - in that case, don't let the browser hit you in the ass on the way out... jk) or just stop by and say hello. Unlike my Sims, I don't bite.
